Body fat reduction with liposuction | A myth buster

Fat reduction with liposuction is a common solution for obesity but for entirely wrong reasons. For more, read this myth buster.

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that eliminates the stubborn fat you may have failed to reduce even after a strict diet and exercise. As the title indicates, a suction technique is used for fat reduction with liposuction from the abdomen, arms, neck, hips, buttocks, thighs, and under the chin. Moreover, liposuction surgery is also used as a part of other cosmetic surgery procedures such as tummy tuck, breast reduction, and facelift, etc.

Liposuction is a prevalent cosmetic surgery. For the same reason, there have been various myths about liposuction lately. Therefore, here is a brief myth-buster for you.

Liposuction is a weight loss procedure

It is a general perception that liposuction is a procedure that aims to help you with weight loss. However, in reality, a patient loses a minimal amount of fat ranging from two to five pounds only. The ideal candidate’s weight varies up to 30% of the healthy weight range. Mostly, they wish to remove the fat pockets.

Liposuction treats cellulite

Just as fat reduction with liposuction is popular, it is also known to treat cellulite as well. Conversely, the tube used in the procedure sucks the smooth fatty tissue only. In comparison, cellulite is much more than a fat pocket. Instead, it is due to the accumulation of subcutaneous fat in the connective tissue bands. Hence, it is pretty impossible for liposuction surgery to treat cellulite.

Liposuction is only for young people

Age has never been a factor in receiving liposuction. Anyone who enjoys health and passes the medical examination can go for liposuction. As far as you are not thinking about fat reduction with liposuction, people from an older age group can be candidates for liposuction. However, lack of elasticity and firmness may cause a problem because it may not adjust with the reshaped contours.

Liposuction treats the flax skin

In some cases of double chin and heavy tummy, the main issue is sagging skin rather than fat accumulation. Mostly, this skin has reduced elasticity. For such a case, liposuction is not the solution. Contrarily, a skin tightening surgery would be more appropriate.

A women-only procedure

Among all the myths about fat reduction with liposuction, this one is the biggest and weirdest. Just because it is a cosmetic procedure, liposuction surgery has been tagged with women. However, men also seek body contouring solutions for better self-esteem levels, and it is much more common than you may think.
